Director of People Operations

People Operations - San Francisco, CA - Full Time

Rentlytics is seeking an experienced Director of People Operations to own our People function to support our growth from 40 people to hundreds. You will own the full range of human resources functions - process, hiring, retention, compensation, and performance management - with a particular focus on establishing the technology necessary for us to scale. This role will be both strategic and tactical, defining department vision and direction then building the team and taking the steps to realize that vision. You will report to the VP of Finance and will work directly with our founders and executive team to support the business as it grows.



Rentlytics is a venture-backed rapidly-growing team of 45 people focused on solving the core challenges of the multifamily real estate industry: making informed and data-driven decisions in a landscape of fragmented and siloed software platforms. We currently have two products in the market: “Business Intelligence” and “Renovation Manager”. The Rentlytics Business Intelligence platform consolidated a real-estate company’s portfolio operations data into a single place, and makes it easy to analyze, share, and act on. The Rentlytics Renovation Manager system is the industry’s leading workflow, management, and analytics tool for tracking apartment renovation projects.   • Own our people operations, recruiting, and office management teams as our first dedicated people resource
  • Build out and execute Rentlytics’ people strategy, including: performance management, recruiting, employee engagement, compensation, benefits, retention, employee and manager training, employee handbook, compliance and culture initiatives 
  • Establish and implement HR systems and processes to support a workforce that will scale well over 100 employees across multiple locations nationwide; partner with business leaders to evolve the organizational structure in anticipation of continued growth and opportunities
  • Build and manage a hybrid internal and external recruiting team to ensure that we are attracting top talent and have a streamlined interviewing and onboarding process
  • Serve as a strategic business partner to the executive leadership team; develop strong, pro-active collaborative working relationships across the organization; address and anticipate key business issues; and bring talent management expertise and capabilities to strategic decisions and initiatives



  • 7+ years experience in a People Operations / Human Resources role, with recent experience leading and expanding People Operations at a high-growth startup
  • Self-starter with an entrepreneurial spirit who proactively takes ownership and is hungry to change and grow an organization
  • Successful track record in rapidly growing an early-stage high-growth startup from few to many
  • Advanced understanding of employment law, compensation, benefits, organizational development, employee relations, and training
  • Experience working as a business partner to the executive leadership team, and developing strong, proactive, and collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to manage, grow, and develop high-performing teams
  • Experience selecting and implementing HRMSs
  • Bachelor's degree


Bonus Points:

  • Master’s degree or related certifications
  • Background in in-house recruiting, ideally in building and leading a recruiting team
  • Experience with and opinion of latest generation of HRMSs
